Shirley Day

Shirley Day Shirley Ruth Day, 82, of Kure Beach, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Shirley was born February 16, 1930 in Black Creek, PA, daughter of the late Andrew Earl Wolfe and Muriel Bond Wolfe. A daughter, Patricia Ann Day, sister, Mary Susan Painton, and a brother, Richard Wolfe, preceded her in death. Mrs. Day was a graduate of Nescopec High School in Pennsylvania, and earned her Registered Nurse degree from Temple University School of Nursing. Shirley was the best and most loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Day; six children, Robert Day, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Thomas Day and wife, Regina, of Stevens, PA, Barry Day of Kure Beach, Rosanne Day and husband, David Berger, of Allentown, PA, John Day and wife, Joyce, of Allentown, PA, and Nancy Day and husband, Gregg German, of Spring Mount, PA; ten grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Painton, Grace Flesher and husband, James, and Marion Noss and husband, Charles; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. John McGee officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley's name may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 6650 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC 28412.
