

Shirley Reed Adams Heath passed away February 15, 2012, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center. She was born in Wilmington May 8, 1929. She graduated New Hanover High School in Wilmington and Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk; trained at Grace Hospital in Morganton and worked as a medical lab technician at James Walker Hospital, Babies Hospital and Glen Meade Obstetrics & Gynecology in Wilmington; Shirley was a member of Carver's Creek United Methodist Church where she was longstanding organist. She was past District Deputy Grand Matron and a member of Areme Chapter #372 Order of the Eastern Star in Wilmington; and member of VFW Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by parents Will Gay Adams Sr. and Gretchen Krahnke Adams, brother Will Gay Adams Jr., sister Veneta Geedy and son Jimmie R. Heath Jr. She is survived by her husband, Jimmie R. Heath Sr. of the home, daughter, Barbara and husband Andrew Pendergrass of Raleigh, NC, grandson, Philip Heath and granddaughter, Grace Heath of Dallas, TX; a sister Barbara Adams of Leland, NC, and a large circle of family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Carvers Creek United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. Buddy Champion. Interment will follow in Weyman Chapel Cemetery, Riegelwood, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2012, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
