Shirley Wright

Shirley was born on October 7, 1938 in Columbus Co., NC, daughter of the late Essie Dale Duncan Lanier and Raleigh Edward Lanier.

Shirley was a member of the Myrtle Grove Baptist Church from watching the nursery to a very active member of the Overcomers class, she was a devoted Christian. She enjoyed working in the garden, a very talented artist from painting pictures to playing the piano and working with crafts. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Shirley will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 53 years, Donald Wright; daughters, Teresa West and her husband, Bill of Little River, SC, Donna Spencer of Goldsboro, NC and Tina Wright of Wilmington, NC; brother, J.C. Lanier of Clarkton, NC; sister, Grace Hammond of Thomaston, GA; grandchildren, Lee Faircloth and his wife Jennifer, Michelle Long and her husband, Sid, Will Bouras, Kim Hughes, Jessica Woodall and her husband Josh, Christopher Powell, Linda Richards and her husband, Charles, and Susan Williams and her husband, Rev Jimmy and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 7, 2012 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday March 7, 2012 at the Myrtle Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Waters and Pastor Rod West officiating.

Entombment service will follow at Oleander Memorial Garden, 306 Bradley Drive Wilmington, NC 28409.

Pallbearers and the eleven Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.
