Stephen Victor Becker

Stephen ""Steve"" Victor Becker, 69, of Wilmington, passed away May 22, 2010 at Duke Hospital in Durham. Steve was born in Ft. Wayne, IN, on February 27, 1941, to the late Victor and Alice Friend Becker. He was also preceded in death by his sole sibling, Martha Becker Janson. He graduated from Purdue University in 1964 and was a member of Phi Kappa Theta. Steve relocated to Wilmington in 1985 from St. Paul, MN with the American Hoist and Derrick Company. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and enjoyed Tennis Leagues, boating, doing voluntary tax work with the Vita Program. Steve is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith Kay Becker, with whom he shared a joyous and devoted relationship. He is also survived by his sister's children; Jennifer Janson of Cambridge, MA, Greg and Jeff Janson of Ridgecrest, CA and Anne Janson of Corvdon, IN. He also had numerous nieces and nephews on his wife's side with whom he was very close. A funeral mass will take place at 10:00 am, Friday, May 28, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The family will receive guests at the church starting at 9:00 am. Inurnment will take place at 9:30 am, Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Oleander Memorial Garden. The family extends special thanks for the wonderful support of family and friends throughout the difficult times.
