Stephen Wayne Bouton

Born on March 22, 1946, in Oceanside, New York was the son of Donald Bouton and Ethel Meyers Bouton. Throughout his life, Steve was known for his big heart, thirst for learning, and love for his wife, children and grandchildren.

He graduated from Rippowam High School in 1964 and later earned a bachelor’s degree from Mercy College. He went onto a career in computer and information technology ultimately opening Coastal Computer Systems, Inc in Wilmington NC in 1994 which is still operating today by his son, Chris Bouton.

Outside of work, Steve enjoyed many hobbies and interests including woodworking, fishing, gardening, painting and reading anything related to world and American history. He also enjoyed cooking and excelled at eating. He found great joy in visits with his children and grandchildren, his woodworking social groups and his fitness classes with his "pool friends" at Coastal Fitness Center in Hampstead NC.

Steve is survived by his wife Patricia Bouton of Hampstead, NC, his daughter Rachel Matheis (Chris Matheis) of Norwalk, CT, and his sons Chris Bouton of Wilmington, NC and Chuck Bouton (Marcia Bouton) of Peoria, AZ. He is also survived by grandchildren Joseph Bouton, Evan Faber (Meghan Faber), Derek Faber, Chloe Bouton and Norah Bouton, great-granddaughter Ava Bouton, his sister Lori DeLeo (Tore DeLeo) of Ponder, TX, his brother Michael Bouton (Celeste Bouton) of Wilmington NC and niece Nicole DeLuca. He was predeceased by his son Wayne Bouton, his mother Ethel Bouton, father Donald Bouton and stepmother Phyllis Bouton. The family will remember Steve for his love, wisdom and kindness and will remain in our hearts forever.

A memorial celebration of life will be held on October 17, 2026, in Wilmington NC.
