He was 91 years old and just celebrated his 91’s birthday with children’s laughter and wonderful performances wishing him happy birthday by every guest in front of his bed.
Stu was born on Sept 9, 1935, to his parent Dora Suskind and Nathan Suskind in Binghamton NY.
Stuart Suskind was a brilliant man and a high achiever. He graduated high school one year earlier than his class and graduated from Duke University with BS Chemistry in 1957, He graduated from Maryland University with Master and PhD in Organic Chemistry in 1962, He received his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1975 and his J.D law degree in 2001 from Widener University Wilmington DE. He received his Bar Admission from US Patent & Trademark in 1996.
He had 15 years extensive experience in preparing, prosecuting patent applications in the chemical, biotech and mechanical arts, infringement and validity studies and assisting with litigation and product development management. At Pfizer, and several law firms he successfully managed international patent portfolios with major cost reductions.
Prior to his patent technology experience, he worked as R&D director at Baxter, and VP for pharmaceutical companies. He had about 22 patents of his own. He won several awards from these positions.
Stu loved to play clarinet since he was 13 years old. He did not stop playing until he was 90 years old. He published 2 fiction books (Nate, A Father and Son Story 2018) (Gaze, 2022) since his retirement and had been working on a sequel to the second book until the end of 2024.
Stu loved playing tennis, cooking, and traveling. He and his wife had taken domestic and international trips every year until his disease progressed and he lost his mobility in 2023.
Stu is modest and quiet guy, but he had a great sense of humor, and all his friends and family loved that about him.
Stuart is survived by: His beloved wife, Cherry Suskind; His sister Ruthann Suskind Burk; His younger daughter Judy Bell and her husband Dr. William Bell; son, Jonathan Bell, and daughter, Kyle Anne Mckenzie, and her husband Adam McKenzie along with their newborn baby Alice Fay, and his older daughter, Jill Suskind.
A Visitation will be held from 11am to 12pm on Wednesday Sept 23, 2026 at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park,1155 Shipyard Blvd Wilmington NC 28412.
A funeral service will start at 12pm in the Coble Chapel with Pastor Angelo Sanchez officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
