Thomas Kevin Burch

Thomas Kevin Burch passed away on July 13, 2024, in Wilmington, NC. He was predeceased by his mother, Betty Sue. He leaves behind his father, George T. Burch, his son William Burch, and his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Burch.

Kevin was born in Illinois and moved to Wilmington when he was six years old. As a child, Kevin enjoyed days at the beach and visiting cousins in Kentucky and Ohio.

Kevin graduated from UNCW in 1994 with a degree in physics and moved to California where he worked as a personal assistant for a well-known Hollywood actor. Rather than pursue a career in physics, Kevin started his own internet business, Burch Trading Group. Owning his own internet-based business allowed Kevin to travel globally, including Thailand, where he met his ex-spouse Mai Naphat Wilson. Kevin lived part-time in Thailand for many years and his son William was born in 2005.

Kevin was passionate about the creative arts and enjoyed writing, listening to music, and watching movies. He was a member of the Wilmington Toastmasters Club, and was a skilled chess player.

Kevin was an invaluable support to his family during his mother’s recent illness and passing. Living close to Betty Sue and George T., Kevin was present at his parent’s household or hospital each day and tended to the needs of Betty Sue, a devout Jehovah’s Witness.

Kevin will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A life celebration for friends and family will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 5:00 PM at the Shell Island Resort located at 2700 N Lumina Ave, Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480.
