Thomas J. Green, Jr.

Thomas J. Green, Jr. was born on January 31, 1942, the son of Thomas James Green, Sr. and Lucile Tyler Green. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vernice Wynne Green; sons, Robert Green (Tammy) and Tommy Green, daughter Karen Gertz (Jay Gertz); grandchildren Alex Green, Emily Green and Presley Gertz; sisters Sheron Buis (Charlie) and Susan Sydes (Cecil) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tommy retired from the North Carolina Port Authority where he served as the Director of Finance and Administration (Deputy Executive Director). He was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by Governor Beverly Purdue in recognition of his service to the State of North Carolina. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1964 to 1972.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church conducted by Fr. Roger Malonda Nyimi. Burial will follow at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Cemetery.

The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 11:30a.m. to 12:00p.m. followed by Mass at 12:00p.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
