Thomas Rossie Holmes, age 84, of Leland died Wednesday, May 14, 2008. He was born in Columbus County, NC on January 21, 1924 to the late Rossie Carr Holmes and Mildred Thompson Holmes. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy and a member of First Baptist Church of Leland. He was retired from Cape Fear Ford Parts Department. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Oneil Long Holmes of the home, one daughter Dorothy H. Flynn of Leland and one son, Mike Holmes and wife Ruby of Leland; grandchildren, Kevin Todd Flynn, Kristi Holmes and step grandson Brandon White. One sister, Betty Holmes Sellers and husband Floyd, and sister in law Faye Long of Leland Funeral services will be held 2 pm Friday, May 16, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Leland with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A time of visitation for family and friends will be from 1 to 2 pm Friday at the church. Memorial gifts may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 2222 S. 17th St., Wilmington, NC 28401.
