Thomas J. Lyons

Thomas J. Lyons, 78, entered into rest on December 18, 2018 in Wilmington, NC. He was the devoted husband of Trudy (Wolf) Lyons for 54 years. He was the loving father of David Lyons and wife, Erin, and of Andrea (Lyons) Gillespie. He was affectionately known as Pop-Pop to his five adored grandchildren, Alyssa Lyons, Brendan Lyons, Tessa Gillespie, Kieran Gillespie, and Shane Gillespie.

Tom was born on December 5, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Edward F. and Catherine V. (McBride) Lyons. He is survived by his brother, Robert Lyons. He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine (Lyons) Michvech and his brother Edward Lyons.

Tom retired from Philadelphia Electric Company after 20 years of service. Prior to this, he was a member of the Philadelphia police force while attending LaSalle College and earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Tom proudly served in the United States Air Force and belonged to the American Legion.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:00pm at Andrews Hampstead Chapel, located in Hampstead, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests making a donation to the Salvation Army or doing a random act of kindness in his honor.
