Thomas Charles Prendergast

Thomas Charles Prendergast III (63), most beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2013. He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Jean (Kenyon) Prendergast, and is survived by his wife Lisa, his children Christopher (Christy), Patrick, and Michelle (John Sweeney), and two grandchildren Tyler and Sydney. Tom retired earlier this year from the University of North Carolina - Wilmington, where he was a carpenter in the Office of Facilities. Prior to his time at UNCW, he worked at the U.S. Postal Service in Lockport, New York, from which he retired in 2003. He graduated from Niagara University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and from Excelsior College with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. Tom took immense joy in his family, his work, and all that he did, and he lived his life as an example for others to follow. The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm, Friday, December 13, 2013, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, December 14, 2013, also at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Tom's memory to the General Scholarship Fund at the University of North Carolina - Wilmington c/o Advancement Services, UNCW, 601 S.
