Thomas J. Tomlinson, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on December 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on April 10, 1943, he was one of eight children of his loving parents, John Tomlinson and Margaret Kennelly. He was preceded in death by his siblings Elsie, Jim, Peg, Brian, John, and Mary, and is survived by his brother Patrick. Thomas was also deeply cherished by his many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. He lived a rich and fulfilling life, defined by devotion, hard work, adventure, and an unwavering commitment to those he held closest to his heart.
Thomas was a beloved husband to Diana Tomlinson, with whom he shared 62 years of partnership, laughter, and steady companionship. Their life together was built on love, respect, and the countless memories created over the years.
He was the proud father of three children: TJ (Jennifer), Brian (Kimberly), and Stephanie. Being a father was one of Thomas’s greatest honors. He supported his children through every stage of their lives, offering guidance, encouragement, and a steady presence they could always rely on.
Thomas was also blessed with a growing and loving family. He adored his grandchildren — Alana (Nick), Victoria, Marissa, Ava, Thomas III, Adrianna (Nick), and Amanda. He took great pride in watching each of them grow into the people they are today. His joy multiplied even further with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Reece and Wren, who brought light, laughter, and renewed energy into his life.
Throughout his life, Thomas was a man of many talents and passions. He spent many years as a union sheet metal worker with Local 28 in New York City, where he was respected for his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic. His craftsmanship extended far beyond his career — Thomas designed and built six custom homes for his family, and one even won House of the Year, a testament to his creativity, precision, and pride in his work.
Outside of work, Thomas found peace and happiness in the outdoors. He loved fishing, boating, and traveling to new places with the people he loved. He was an active member of the Harbor Village Yacht Club, where he formed lasting friendships and made countless memories on the water. The ocean was one of his greatest joys — a place where he could relax, reflect, and appreciate the beauty of life.
Thomas will be remembered for his calm strength, sharp wit, and warm, steady presence. He had a natural talent for making people laugh, often with quick humor that caught everyone off guard in the best way. His ability to lighten a moment, offer a clever remark, or bring a smile to someone’s face was one of his greatest gifts. He made people feel safe, supported, and understood, and his loving presence will continue to be felt in the lives of all who knew him.
He leaves behind a legacy built on family, integrity, and the simple but profound joy of living life fully.
Rest in peace, “kid.”
