Tony Harris

Anthony “Tony” Steven Harris, 57, of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 12, 1963 in Fayetteville, NC, a son of Patricia Ann Wells Fowlkes and the late Gary Steven Harris. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Tammy Louise Snipes and sister-in-law, Darlene Harris.

Tony thrived on trying new things and living in the moment. He was the life of the party, the peace maker, and the glue that held his social circles together. He was an active member of the Mover’s Association, where he served on the Board of Directors and was the recipient of the Mover of the Year award. Outside of work, he was an avid Carolina Tar Heels basketball fan. He loved music, cooking, golfing, boating, and spending time with his dog, Ozzy.

In addition to his mother, Tony is survived by his step-father, William Fowlkes of Garner, NC; his significant other, Althea Orrell of Wilmington, NC; daughter, Brittany Harris Burt (Joshua) of Morehead City, NC; grandson, Harrison Burt; granddaughter, Sunny Burt; two brothers, Dean Harris of Carolina Beach, NC and Eric Snipes (Idalia) of Pikeville, NC; and four nieces, Jessica Harris, Amanda Matteson (K.J.), Christina Snow (Derek) and Ashley Snipes.

A Celebration of Life service was held Sunday, April 4th, 2021, at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tony’s memory may be made online to the ASPCA or a charity of ones’ choice.
