Vincent D. Cusick

Vincent was born on August 10, 1939, in Manhattan, New York, to Raymond and Eleanor Cusick. He graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School in Queens, New York, and later attended the New York City Police Academy.

Vincent proudly served his country in the United States Army before embarking on a distinguished 31-year career with the New York City Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant assigned to One Police Plaza Police Headquarters. His dedication to service extended well beyond his professional career and into the communities he called home. Throughout his life, he held numerous leadership and volunteer roles, including serving as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Wilmington, North Carolina, and as President of the Lions Club in Hampstead, North Carolina. He was also a Boy Scout Troop Leader in Seaford, New York, President of the West Point Academy Parents Club of Long Island, a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and a charter member of the Hampstead ROMEOs.

On November 9, 1963, Vincent married the love of his life, Fay Hope Funk. Together they shared more than 62 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and countless memories. Above all else, Vincent cherished time spent with his beloved wife and their children: Patrick, Shaun, Daniel, and Hope Elaina.

Vincent was a man of great integrity, warmth, and character. He was known for his charm, quick wit, sense of humor, and genuine ability to connect with others. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he took immense pride in both his family and his professional accomplishments. He enjoyed hunting, camping, canoeing, winemaking, attending the theater, and traveling the world with his beloved wife.

Vincent is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Fay Hope Cusick; his children, Patrick Cusick, Shaun Cusick, Daniel Cusick, and Hope Elaina Weisser; his grandchildren, Tara Wakeland, Erin Robison, Michael Cusick, Emma Cusick, Jae Cusick, Kyla Cusick, and Sam Weisser; and his great-grandchildren, Mary Estelle Wakeland and Patrick Vincent Wakeland.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 1011 Eastwood Road, Wilmington, NC 28403. All who knew and loved Vincent are welcome to attend. Interment will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Sea Lawn Memorial Park, 17750 US-17, Hampstead, NC 28443.
