Virginia Mae Clifton Price

Virginia Mae Clifton Price, 98 of Wilmington, NC who lived a long beautiful life full of God's graces passed away peacefully on Nov. 23, 2013 with loving family members at her bedside. "Mae" was born to the late Ellis Clifton and Vicie Vandyke Clifton of Raven, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband and long time love, William W. Price, Jr. and her siblings Lucinda Horne, Walter Clifton, Edna Horne, Cassie Horne, Callie Keen all of VA and Stella Addison, Donna McClure and Bruce Clifton of DE. She is survived by her sisters Hettie Kraszewski and Mona Biddle of DE and Myrtle McGhee of VA and brother Ellis Clifton of VA along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved her dearly. Mae was the oldest of 13 children whom she helped raise, she worked several jobs in her home area and for some time ran the camp for coal miners as a young adult. She relocated to DE where she married and traveled with her Navy husband and resided in Japan, Hawaii and California during WWII and after. In the early 1970's Mae moved to Wilm., NC with her husband where they were members of the Little Chapel on the Boardwalk. She was an avid seamstress, cook and enjoyed canning, gardening and serving her famous pans of rolls and special desserts to all, she was always ready for company. Mae had a love for life, never knew a stranger and had a smile that could light up a room, all felt special in her presence. She was a woman of strong family values and although had no children of her own was a mother to all that knew her and her family was a source of great pride and joy. The family wishes to thank the staff at New Hanover Hospital for their love, excellent care and support during Mae's hospitalization. We love you "Aunt Mae" and you will always be in our hearts and minds forever. Funeral services will be held on Wed., Nov 27 at 2PM, Hampstead Chapel, 17730 Highway 17 North, Hampstead, NC with visitation at 1PM, burial to follow in the Sea Lawn Memorial Park adjacent to chapel.
