

He was born in Johnston County, January 18, 1951, to the late Ayden Bennett and Muriel Edgerton Stevens.
Wayne retired and enjoyed life, fishing, spending time at the Moose Lodge, playing Bingo and especially playing with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lorene Barefoot.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jenny Stevens; four sons, Johnny and wife Denise Stevens, James Stevens, Bruce Stevens and Kenneth and wife Helen Stevens; two sisters, Linda Stancil and Gail Wood; special nephew and niece, Christopher and wife Megan McCloud and Kimberly McCloud; seven grandchildren, Cody Miller, Jacey Stevens, Maygan Walker, Little Bruce Stevens, Kayla Wolf, Trista Stevens and Jesse Stevens and five great-grandchildren, James Walker, Ayden Walker, Natilyn Coats, Aubree Peele and Mathew Peele.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel.
The family will receive visitors following the service.
