He was born April 12, 1944, in Fayetteville, NC, to the late Curtis Tierney and Doris Quick Tierney.
Wayne was a graduate of Massey Hill Classical High School class of 1963. He proudly served his country and was a veteran of the US Air Force. Wayne was formerly employed with Stewart Nissan and Reed-Lallier Chevrolet. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas R. Tierney and Gary Lee Tierney.
Survivors include his wife, Carmen Gomez Tierney; daughter, Maria Tierney Williams; son, John Wayne Tierney; grandchildren, Natalie Tierney Williams, Lauren Tierney and Luke Tierney and a brother, Curtis Mitchell Tierney.
He will be missed by all.
Services will be private.
