William Harold Prince

William Harold Prince, a lifelong North Carolinian, Vietnam combat veteran, and devoted husband and family man, passed away on August 15, 2026, at the age of 77. He was born on February 17, 1949, in Southport, North Carolina, the son of Thomas Carlos Prince and Thelma Floyd Haggemann Prince.

Harold grew up in coastal Brunswick County. His father, a World War II veteran, died in a house fire in Southport in January 1949, just weeks before Harold’s birth. Raised by his mother alongside his brother and sister, Harold developed the quiet resilience and steady character that marked his life.

After high school, Harold served honorably in the United States military during the Vietnam War. He carried that service with quiet dignity. Upon returning home, he built a solid career, working for 28 years at DuPont’s textile manufacturing operations. He was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and the quiet pride he took in providing for those he loved. He was best known for his immense desire to help anyone that needed him.

Harold was a man with deep loyalty and love for his wife of 53 years. They shared an immeasurable love for each other and a love of music, dancing, traveling, and enjoying good times with friends and family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Baddour Prince; his sisters-in-law, Linda Baddour, Peggy Baddour; and his nieces, Jessica Baddour Willetts, Paige, and Lisa, and nephew Asa Van Norman. He was also a cherished brother-in-law to Jamie Willetts, Gabe Norman, and David Dockhorn, and a welcome presence in the wider Baddour family. He is preceded in death by his father Thomas Carlos Prince, mother Thelma Floyd Haggemann Prince, and his brother Thomas and sister Shirley.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington with Military funeral honors, including the sounding of Taps, to be rendered in recognition of his service to our country. Followed by a Celebration of Life at Porters Neck Country Club, 8403 Vintage Club Circle, Wilmington at noon.

Harold lived a life of quiet integrity and steadfast love for his wife, family, and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
