William (Bill) Prussia, 74, of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio died at Lower Cape Fear’s Life Care in Wilmington, NC. After five years of fighting prostate cancer that metastasized to his bones, he lost his battle with cancer on Friday September 3, 2021.
Bill was born on January 31, 1947 and was raised in Hubbard, Ohio, a son of the late D. Bill Prussia and Rebecca (Jordan) Prussia.
Bill was a 1965 Graduate of Hubbard High School. At age 19 he joined the U.S. Army and fought in the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Patricia Scott in Sharon, PA on September 13, 1969.
He retired from General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio after working there for 38 years. Upon retiring, he and his wife moved to Wilmington, NC to enjoy the weather, beach and his koi pond. In retirement, he loved his part time job at Jeff Gordon Chevrolet, delivering car parts and making friends all over town.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patty (Scott) Prussia; two sons, Scott Daniel Prussia (Kim) of Denver, CO, Adam Martin Prussia of Covington, KY, and one daughter, Rebecca (Becky Prussia) DePreta (Larry) of Wilmington, NC. Three grandchildren, Max William (14), Elija James (12), and Abbigail Carolyne (13). Many cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends will also mourn this significant loss.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only sibling, his brother Robert Prussia.
Bill had a big personality and left an impression on everyone. To honor his wishes, there will not be a funeral or any service.
He is now free of pain and able to fish for the big one, scratch off as many lottery tickets as he wants, drink a Manhattan and walk forever, searching for treasures with his metal detector.
