William Harold Timms

William Timms passed away March 27, 2023, following complications from a stroke suffered in October 2022. He was residing in Wrightsville Beach, NC at the time of his death. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph B. and Nancy Ray Timms. William grew up in Wilmington, NC and Gastonia, NC, graduating from Frank L. Ashley High School in 1966. Stationed in Corpus Christi, TX, he proudly served in the US Navy from 1969 to 1973. While living in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as well as following his return to Charlotte, NC, he was employed in transportation management.

After retirement, William enjoyed exercising, working in his yard, and visiting the beach. He loved baseball even as a young child, and recently had become an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He also loved Motown and beach music, shag and slow dancing. He had a dry sense of humor and a loving spirit.

He is survived by his brother Joseph B. Timms (Reba) of Murfreesboro, TN: sister, Anne Timms Wetherill (Jim) of Wilmington, NC; sister, Nancy Timms Connaughton of Annapolis, MD, and his special partner, Molly Howard Frederick of Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market St., Wilmington, NC. Visitation at 1 pm followed by a service in the chapel at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in William’s memory to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
