Born September 10, 1945, Annie spent her life grounded in steady devotion to family and work, and in the quiet gifts of care that are remembered long after words are done. She was a long-time resident of Saint Mary's Church Rd in Lucama, a place closely tied to the life she built and the people she loved. Her family lovingly knew her as “Moochie,” a name that carried the warmth of familiarity and the tenderness of home.
Annie worked as a bookkeeper for PL Woodard, Todd Glover farms, and several tobacco warehouses, bringing diligence and reliability to every ledger and every season. She also worked at Bradley's Tax as a tax preparer, where her careful attention and steady competence served others in practical, meaningful ways.
Beyond her work, Annie found joy in flowers and was known for her green thumb—an enduring reflection of the patience and gentle constancy with which she nurtured what was placed in her care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laura Sadler and Frank Spaugh; her husband, Gerald Ellis, to whom she was married for 48 years; and her brother, Howard (Richard) Sadler.
She is survived by her children, Jeffery Lynn Ellis (Marci) and Julie Ellis Waitz (Michael); and her grandchildren, Lyndsay Ellis, Nick Ellis, Greta Waitz, and Ellis Waitz. She is also survived by her siblings, Millie (Pat) Lowe, Wilma Cooke (Spouse - Grover Cooke), Ronnie Sadler, and Junnie Sadler (Spouse - Joan Sadler).
