Dorothy A Ballance, age 88 passed away Monday, July 4, 2016. She was preceded in death by her son, Merle Arthur Thorne; parents, Lonnie and Elsie Ivey Adams; brothers, Bobby Adams and Frank Adams. She is survived by hers sons, Dwight D. Thorne (Judy) of Sims, Okey Pete Thorne of Bailey; daughters, Janice T. Brock of Elm City, Carmen J. Godette of Havelock; brothers, Cecil Adams (Anne) of Clayton, L.C Adams of Kenly; sister Eilleen Boyette (Paul) of Kenly; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three great- great -grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She loved gardening, cooking, knitting and crocheting. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home with other times at the home of Dwight and Judy Thorne 6522 Old Davis Rd. Sims, NC. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev. John Drosendahl officiating.
