Dorothy Kelley

November 27, 1939 - September 29, 2026

Ms. Dorothy Suggs Kelley was born on November 27, 1939, in Greene County to the late Willie and Roxanna Suggs. She received her education through Greene County Public Schools and graduated in 1955.

Dorothy later made her home in Detroit, Michigan, where she enjoyed a dedicated career with Chrysler Motors before retiring. She was a faithful member of The Pentecostal Lighthouse Church.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Roxanna Suggs; her husband, Sam Kelley; her son, Codie Kelley; her sister, Joan Suggs Davis; and her nephew, Emory Exum.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Sheila Suggs Tee and Thelma Suggs Exum; her brother, Willie Earl Suggs; and a loving family that includes Theresa Exum, Laverne Exum, Ronald Exum, Carlos Suggs, Roxaundra Suggs, Kendra Tee, and Maya Tee. She is also lovingly remembered by a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Dorothy shared special friendships with Mary Barnes, Laura Hill Barnes, and Margarette Bridgers.

Her life of faith, devotion, and love will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.

Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the chapel of Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home in Wilson, NC on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 1PM.
