Dorothy Glover Monk

Born on August 20, 1942, Dottie was the daughter of Nettie F. Glover and William E. Glover.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James “Jim” B. Alford, Jr.; and husband, A.C. Monk, Jr.

Dottie especially enjoyed spending time in Morehead City. In recent years, she found great pleasure in watching sports of all kinds, with tennis being a favorite. Dottie’s beloved dogs, Bailey and Jack, were faithful companions who brought years of love and joy.

Dottie will be fondly remembered by the many friends she made throughout her life, while living in Wilson, Morehead City, and Farmville, as well as by her former Greenfield School students, whose lives she touched in meaningful ways.

Dottie leaves behind her loyal friend and devoted caregiver George “Lenny” Davis, along with the many other special caregivers who provided her with kindness, compassion and support throughout the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 20, at 2:00pm in the chapel of Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home, 2704 Nash Street North, Wilson, NC 27896.
