Edward Alan Stiles, Sr. departed this life on Monday, March 4, 2024. Edward was much loved by those who knew him best and cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Edward was born on March 20, 1947 in Streator, Illinois, and was a graduate of Streator Township High School, Class of 1965.
Edward served in the Unites States Air Force from 1967 to 1971, serving in the Southeast Asian Theater of Operations and well as the United States Army from 1977-1993, serving in the US European Command and Operation Desert Storm.
Edward was also active as a youth and adult leader in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a Scoutmaster in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1976, and in Hopewell, Virginia from 1982-1983.
Edward was an also active Mason, serving as Master of Hands Across the Main Lodge #879 in Kitzingen, West Germany (1985-1987), and Grand Master of the American Canadian Grand Lodge (1990-1991).
In addition to service to our country, his family, and those around him, he also had a strong passion for camping, fishing, and crafting.
Edward was preceded in death by parents Edward Oren Stiles and Grace Irene (Benstine) Stiles, both of Streator, Illinois.
Edward is survived by his wife Linda, son Edward, Jr (Rebecca) of Wilson, daughter Jacqueline Stiles, grandson Daniel Christopher Corn (Kelly), and great-granddaughters Avery and Lilltih Corn, sisters Rebecca Stilwell, Barbara Danko (Richard), Debbie Durgach (Jim), Linda Daugherity (Dale) and brother Brian Stiles.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests a donation in memory of Edward Alan Stiles, Sr. to either Fisher House or Tunnel 2 Towers.
