Elm City: Elizabeth “Lib, Shine” Griffin Bottoms, age 96, passed away April 30, 2023. She was born May 4, 1926, a daughter of the late Walter Raleigh Griffin and Minnie Leigh Pittman Griffin and was the wife of the late Marvin Bryce Bottoms. She was also predeceased by a brother Thomas Griffin, a son-in-law Robert Lee Cain and a longtime companion Hardy L. Owens.
Her hobbies include sewing, yardwork and cooking.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Nell Bottoms Cain of Elm City and Janet Bottoms Johnson and her husband Chris of Wilson, a sister-in-law Nell Brown Griffin of Wilson, grandchildren, Jason Bryce Cain of Elm City, Jennifer Cain Hennes and her husband David of Rock Hill, SC and Christopher Leon Johnson and his wife Whitley of Wilson, great grandchildren, Wren Amelia Hennes, Charlotte Grace Hennes and Amelia Kay Johnson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 3 PM at Elm City Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Elm City. The family will receive friends at the church from 2 PM to 2:45 PM prior to the service.
