Mrs. Dean was a hard working woman who always made sure those around her were taken care of. She loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. Everyone will miss her assortment of treats she made every Christmas. In her later years, you couldn’t visit her home without being offered a brownie or piece of pound cake upon entering. Mrs. Dean’s collards were the best you’d ever taste.
Mrs. Dean was a long time member of Little Rock Baptist Church in Lucama. In her later years, she looked forward to playing Bingo at the Community Center.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dean was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard “McRay” Boyette; granddaughter, Kiara Boyette; and siblings, Sam Askew, Earl Askew, Pete Askew, and John Askew.
She leaves behind her children, Kim Coley and Randy (Rachel) Boyette; grandchildren, Crystal (Robert) Wilson, Allen (Amber) Barnes, Danielle Boyette, and Justice Boyette; great grandchildren, Ava, Walker, Cameron, Trenton, Aspyn, and Tris; siblings, James (Mary) Askew, Herbert “Bud” (Faye) Askew, and Terry Askew; special niece, Stacie Mason; family friend, Anne Little; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Woodall and all of the nurses and staff at Wilson Medical Center for all of their care and compassion.
The funeral service will be held at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Service on Saturday, February 26th at 11am with Pastor Kelley Smart officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation at 10am prior to the service. Mrs. Dean will be laid to rest next to her husband at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Little Rock Baptist Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
