Wilson: Harvie D. Astin, age 75, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 1, 1948 to the late Edward George Astin and Doris Dean Dodson Astin and was also predeceased by his brother Edward “Ed” Astin.
Harvie retired from Firestone after 37 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. He loved hunting and fishing and really enjoyed tinkering.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years Elizabeth “Betsy” Fearrington Mast Astin, his son Robert Astin and his fiancé Tonya of Bailey, his daughters; Christi A. Crosswaite and her husband Jeff of Wilson and Lindsay A. Yount and her husband Andrew of Lucama; his brother Dean Astin and his wife Beth of Danville, VA, a sister Ceil Whitney and her husband Lawrence of Myrtle Beach, a sister-in-law Pat Astin of Rocky Mount , grandchildren; Harrison Astin, Charles Crosswaite, Claire Crosswaite, Tyler Yount and Olivia Yount.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 2 PM at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 PM to 1:45 PM in Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home prior to the service.
