RALEIGH - James “Jim” Benjamin Hemby, Jr., 83, passed away Thursday evening at Rex Hospital, Raleigh, NC. A Memorial Service will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 20, 2017, at First Christian Church, 207 Tarboro St. NE, Wilson, NC 27893. Rev. Bobby White and Rev. Gary Walling will officiate.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
Jim was born March 1, 1934, in Ayden NC to the late Mavis Parker Hemby and James B. “Boye” Hemby.
Jim is survived by his wife, Joan Edwards Hemby of Raleigh: sons, James Benjamin Hemby, III and wife Holli Hemby of Youngsville, NC, Scott Edwards Hemby, wife Christy Hemby, daughters Elizabeth, Katherine and Charlotte, step-daughter Nora Haulsee and step-son Lear Michael Haulsee of Winston-Salem, NC, and Thomas Simmen Hemby, wife Sheila Hemby, and daughters Tristan and Lillie of Clayton, NC.
