McRae was born and raised in Lucama. He graduated from Lucama High School where he excelled in many sports. McRae worked for Wilson and Company for 27 years as a supervisor until they went out of business. He then went to work as a meat cutter at the grocery store on Main Street, Lucama INS. McRae and his wife, Dean, were members of Little Rock Original Free Will Baptist Church.
McRae loved sports, especially basketball and fishing. He enjoyed his time working in the garden and woodworking, making small furniture and toys for his grandchildren. McRae loved his family dearly and treasured his time with them.
McRae was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Blanche Boyette; granddaughter, Kiara Boyette; and brothers, George and Clarence Boyette. He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Geraldine “Dean” Askew Boyette; children, Kimberly Coley and Randy (Rachel) Boyette; grandchildren, Crystal (Robert) Wilson, Allen (Amber) Barnes, Danielle Boyette, and Justice Boyette; great grandchildren, Ava Wilson, Walker Wilson, Cameron Barnes, Trenton Barnes, and Aspyn Barnes; and very special family friend, Ann Little.
A funeral service will be held Monday, May 4th, at 2 pm, at Thomas Yelverton Funeral Home, Wilson, NC, with Rev. Kelley Smart and Rev. Dr. De Eakes officiating. Burial will follow the service in Evergreen Memorial Park.
