

MARTHA LORRAINE “GRANDMA” BUNN Martha Lorraine Bunn, known as “Grandma” to all, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015, her 83rd birthday. She was the beloved wife of almost 69 years of Clarence Cordell Bunn. Grandma was born in Nash County April 26, 1932 to the late Benjamin and Polly Cone Winstead and was preceded in death by her sister, Eula Denton, and her brothers, Earl, Billy, and Benny Ray Winstead. She had worked for the Samson Shirt Factory for many years. Grandma was fixture at local sporting events and had been known to argue with a referee or umpire if she felt a call was bad, even to the point of getting thrown out of a game once in a while. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Carolina Tar Heels Basketball, meeting such legends as Dean Smith and Michael Jordan. Grandma was also known for her fine southern cooking and the meals she would put out on Sundays which everyone enjoyed. Besides her husband Clarence, she is survived by her daughters, Judy Bunn Boykin and Dale Bunn Gardner and her husband Wiley, all of Elm City; her son, Timothy Bunn and his wife Tammy of Wilson; her grandchildren, Kenneth Boykin, Gregory Boykin, Crystal Keel, Adam Gardner, Alicia Thompson, Jena Bunn, and Shala Crabtree; her great-grandchildren, Jacey Bunn, Haley Walston, Emma Crabtree, Michael Gardner, Ashley Gardner, Alison Keel, Avery Keel, Elijah Boykin, Emily Boykin, Anthony Boykin, Zachary Boykin, Christian Thompson and Christopher Boykin; her sisters, Barbara George of Smithfield, and Betty Glover of Pinetops; her brothers, Doug Winstead of Wilson, Glenn Winstead of Elm City, Roger Winstead of Dover; her 3 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Her family will receive relatives and friends in Thomas-Yelverton at Evergreen Memorial Park, 2704 Nash St., Wilson, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Elm City. www.thomasyelverton.com.
