Born on July 24th, 1929, Mary Olive lived a long and grace-filled life, defined by faith, strength, and boundless love for her family. She was a devoted and loving wife to “Chief” for 67 years. Mary Olive was an exceptional cook and a natural nurturer—her home was a place where everyone felt welcomed, comforted, and cared for. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Noble O’Rourke); granddaughter, Mary Bette (Johnny Slohn), and great-granddaughters, Dakota and Dallas; granddaughter, Wende (Blake Eatmon), and great-grandsons, Parker and Carson; grandson, Brooks (Stephanie Williams), and great-granddaughters, Braelynn and Karlee; her sister, Yvonne Robertson; and many nieces, nephews, & cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edmond “Chief” Lane; her daughter, Linda Lane Hill; sisters Evelyn Ferrell and Dorothy Ferrell; and brothers Charles Ferrell, Leo Ferrell, and Woodrow Ferrell.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3rd, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Wilson. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home.
