Patricia Faye was born in Wilson and attended the Wilson city schools. After graduating from Atlantic Christian (Barton College), she moved to Maryland to begin her career teaching physical education and drivers’ ed. at several schools in the Eastern Shores area of Maryland. After retiring, she returned to Wilson where she became an instructor at Wilson Community College in the GED program.
Although a quiet person, Faye had strong opinions. She was an independent individual who enjoyed working in her yard. Before her illness, her yard was riot of color in all seasons. Several poodles have been her constant companions throughout her adult life; Mollie was her joy and protector at the time of her death. Time with her family, siblings, nieces and nephews, was another joy, especially on holidays.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents. William R. Felton Jr., and Mearl P. Felton; her brothers Ray “Jack” Felton (Ellen), Larry Felton (Carolyn) and sister Rose Hawley.
Surviving Patricia Faye are her 2 sisters: Julia “Judy” Edwards (Charles) of Winston Salem and Barbara Toler (Maurice) of Raleigh, and a brother William Felton (Betty) of Gulf Shores, Alabama, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express our gratitude to those who ministered to Faye during her illness: Kay Manning, Pat Parks, Renee Fitchett, Cymp Jones and especially Hospice of Wilson.
A graveside service will be held on July 22 at 11:00 at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family requests no flowers. Memorials gifts for Faye may be made to Maggie Society 606 Trinity Dr. Wilson, NC 27893, or any animal rescue charity.
