Peggy's unfailingly kind and instructive presence was a unique relationship among the many that I had as a colleague for over 25 years in North Carolina. She represented what I easily learned as the best in temperament, knowledge, and collegial spirit that the federal court system has to offer its members. From the beginning of my term as one of the state's bankruptcy clerks of court, Peggy made me feel 'at home' in North Carolina, gave me unqualifiedly and exceptionally sound advice on all matters I sought her counsel on, and was in all solid respects a friend. To her family members, I cannot imagine the depth of your sense of loss; what I can tell you is that I and so many others are grateful for the privilege to have known her, and we miss her presence, trusting that she is in the very best hands after having lived a caring, wholly worthwhile life. Thank you, Peggy; I wish you had had more time to be with your loved ones, but the time you did have was rich.

To Peggy's and Ken's family, I know there aren't enough words to tell you how I feel about this tragedy. I've know Ken since St. Mary School. We started to school together and ended up graduating together. May God bless you and your family and look to God for answers. God doesn't make mistakes and I think in this case, He really needed her with him at the moment. She will be waiting for her family, so look up and God will give you the answers. My prayers are with you and the family.

Peggy was a special mentor to me and went out of her way to welcome me as a new member of the court family. I will always remember her kindness (and sense of humor). She was a special person and my thoughts are with Peggy's family.

Ken and family. I will truly miss this special lady. We were friends in high school and re-connected on Facebook. I had the pleasure of visiting with her and Ken last time I visited NC and it was a special and enjoyable time that I will always remember. Ken, I am praying for a complete recovery for you and that you and that you will be comforted knowing she is under God's tender and loving care. I wish the same for Ken Jr., Amy and Tripp. She loved you all with all her heart and soul. God Bless,

My thoughts and prayers are with the Deans family at this time of great loss. I had the privilege of being part of the bankruptcy court family from 2002 to 2008, serving under Peggy's direction. In recent years, I enjoyed following her on Facebook and know that her family was her life. May God wrap His loving arms around her family and grant healing to Ken, Sr..

11 years I worked for and with this wonderful woman. Not only was she the head of the Bankruptcy Court, she was the head of our family and she cared for each one of us as a family member. Take comfort in the fact that we all know she is home with our Lord and waiting for us in our day. May the Lord's peace, that passeth all understanding be upon each of you.
