Roy served as an infantryman in the United States Army and earned the Sharpshooter Award, reflecting a life shaped by discipline, steady resolve, and a deep sense of duty.
He shared 33 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Arleen. He was the father of sons Michael and Roy Lee Jr. He is also survived by his brother Allen and his sisters Evelyn, Joyce, and Linda. He is also survived by his grandson Alex and many nieces, nephews, friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rennie and Alease Moore, daughter Christina, brother Robert, his sisters Betty and Myrtle, and his siblings, the Day-Old Twins.
In the rhythms of everyday life, Roy found meaning in simple, lasting joys—fishing and a fondness for old cars. He had a tender heart for animals, often bringing home stray dogs, and he cherished time in the mountains and at the beach. Above all, he was devoted to caring for his family, and his love for Arleen and those closest to him remained the guiding constant of his life.
Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Service is honored to serve the Moore family.
