V. Thomas Sheen, 74, of Sims passed away Tuesday. A memorial funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 202 Goldsboro St. N, Wilson, NC.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home, 2704 Nash St. N, Wilson, NC.
Tom loved his family and enjoyed camping with them at Taylor Pond, Southwick Beach and Westcot Beach. His other hobbies and interests included building model aircraft and playing the guitar. Family was most important to Tom and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Linda T. Sheen; his daughter, Danielle S. Batts (Greg) of Sims; four sons, Joseph Sheen (Cajsa) of Liverpool, NY, Thomas Sheen (Elizabeth) of Henrietta, NY, Mark Sheen (Jen) of Cicero, NY and Brian Sheen (Ellen) of Calcium, NY; eleven grandchildren, Morgyn Sheen, Clayton Sheen, Jennifer Sheen, Jeremy Sheen, Madeline Sheen, Vincent Sheen, Natalie Sheen, Kayla Batts, Avery Batts, Kassidy Hirsh and Edwin Hirsh; a great-granddaughter, Iris Leigh Hayes; three sisters, Patricia Shean Brown of Jackson, TN, Marilynn Hibbard of Brownville, NY and Barbara Sheen of Watertown, NY; one brother, Kenneth Shean (Judy) of Watertown, NY; fifteen nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Francis and Florence Beaulieu Shean, and his grandson, Thomas James Batts.
The Sheen family would like to thank AseraCare Hospice and Tom’s friends and caregivers, Evelyn Baskervill and Marcela Tobar, for the loving care they provided.
