Ann Hall Baird was welcomed home by our Lord on March 11th, 2026, after a 10 month battle with cancer. She was born and raised in Iva, South Carolina before relocating to the Atlanta area in 1961 where she continued to live for the rest of her life. Ann spent most of her life balancing between being a mother, homemaker, and working part-time for the family business. She was a member of Winder First Baptist Church and a devoted Christian. She especially loved her Sunday School classes.
She enjoyed watching birds, tending to her flowers and plants, reading, and she loved her cats. She especially treasured time spent with her family. She loved to travel and visited many places including Israel, Hawaii and Europe. She treasured many memorable family trips to the beach. Ann also loved spending weekends at the lake and making many special memories with her “Big Chill” friends.
One of her greatest joys in life was becoming a mother and later a grandmother. She was adamant about always being present throughout her children and grandchildren’s lives, which formed a special bond with her family. Her love, smile, sharp wit, sense of humor, and spark will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, Jason Baird; granddaughter, Sydney Baird (Austin) Hightower; grandson, Conner Baird; sister, Margaret Mills; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Burgess Baird; her son, James Steven Baird; parents, James B and Maude Hall; brother, Jimmy Hall; and daughter-in-law, Heather Baird.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, Georgia, on March 18, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. There will be a Memorial Service in Smith Memory Chapel following the visitation at 2:00 pm.
In Lieu of Flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society.
