

Anne Dunahoo, age 88, passed away on January 22, 2025. Born and raised in Winder Georgia, Anne was a lifelong member of the community she cherished. She graduated from the University of Georgia and went on to earn her law degree from Emory University. After building a successful career in Atlanta, she returned to Winder in 1992 where she spent her later years surrounded by the people and places that she loved.
Anne had a warm and generous spirit, always offering a kind word or helping hand to those in need. She had a deep love for reading, finding joy in the pages of a good book. Her passion for growing plants and flowers brought beauty to those around her. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of Rockwell Universalist Church, where she served faithfully as treasurer for many years.
She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, wisdom and unwavering generosity will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
She is predeceased by her parents William House Dunahoo and Maude Simpson Dunahoo and husband Alvin Arthur Burke.
Anne is survived by her brothers William Simpson Dunahoo, Sr. and Thomas David Dunahoo, Sr.; step daughter, Janie Butler (Dennis); grandchildren: Martha Jane, Mary Anne, and Jackie; nephews: Thomas David Dunahoo, Jr. (Karen), and William Simpson Dunahoo, Jr. (Paula); nieces: Denise Dunahoo, Carol Anne Dunahoo, and Carla Lynn Dunahoo (Craig); great nephews: Thomas David Dunahoo, lll (Hailey) and William Ryan Dunahoo and Josh Runaldue (Joanna); great nieces: Melissa JoAnne Hernandez (Jose), Lindsay Grace Dunahoo, Michelle Carp (Bobby), Kelly Dunahoo, and Ashley Turcotte (Jason); several great-great nieces and nephews: and special friend Randy Holman.

A celebration to celebrate Anne’s life will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Smith Memory Chapel, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, Georgia 30680. The family will receive friends and family an hour prior to the service.
