Beverly Chastain Jackson, age 83, passed away on September 18th, 2022. Beverly was the daughter of the late Frank R. and Katherine Oxley Chastain. Beverly was the widow of the late Erastus Ambrose Jackson, Jr. Beverly's life centered around her home and family as a devoted homemaker, mother, and wife, but she also gave her time and energy to her community and various charities in Barrow County. Beverly was a breast cancer survivor who later served as Co-Chair for many years for Barrow County Relay For Life. She was also named Honorary Chair for Relay For Life and organized Bev's Babes, a group of ladies who ran the concession stand at these events, raising thousands of dollars over the years. She served as Auction Chairperson for The Tree House for many years as well as serving as President of the Winder Woman's Club from 1971-1973. Beverly's love of reading led to her serving on the church library staff for Winder First Baptist Church. Each Sunday she enjoyed reading to the children. Beverly was honored in 2001 with the Community Service Award presented by the Barrow County Chamber of Commerce. Beverly loved the beach and spent many wonderful years at her home away from home at Fripp Island, South Carolina with her family and friends. Survivors include her children: Cindy (Randy) Blalock and Kathy (Chris) Akins; sister, Phyllis Chastain; grandchildren: Chase (Ashley) Akins and Sara Grace (Jeff Whorton) Akins; great-grandchild, Ella Mae Akins; nephew, Robby (Tracy) Pierson; niece, Sarah Frances (Benji) Feehan; and great-nieces: Chelsea Pierson and Anna Pierson. Beverly was preceded in death by her brother, Frank R. Chastain, Jr. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 21st, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Winder First Baptist Church. Rev. Chad Mantooth will officiate. In Lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions to the Winder First Baptist Church Library Fund or The Tree House. Smith Funeral Home, Winder, has charge of arrangements.
