Charles Gene Langford
July 16, 1935 – March 7, 2019
Charles Eugene “Gene” Langford, age 83 of Statham, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019. He was of the Christian faith. Gene was an Air Force veteran and served in Japan as a medic. He was a carpenter and pole barn builder in his early years and retired as a sales manager for CDS Moving Equipment. Gene was an avid reader and loved his home and being able to cut grass and be outside. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Bonnie Wallace Langford and three sisters, Charlene Bridges, Loneta Fern Gardner and Willie Ozell McDaniel. Gene was survived by his wife that he loved for 20 years, Carolyn Edwards Langford; two daughters, Paige Helen Powell (Craig) and Leslie Gene Leedy (Ted) of Sacramento, CA; a step-son, Greg Plunkett (Penny) of Statham; two brothers, Leon Langford (Diane) of Springfield, MO and Leo Langford of Nixa, MO and four grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Gene’s memory to The American Cancer Society. A memorial service is being planned for another date. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
