

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Shedd on August 27th, 2025, at the age of 76. David was a lifelong resident of Winder, Georgia where he had attended Winder Barrow High School. David attended Winder First Baptist Church. David retired from Great Northern Construction Company. Outside of work, he was a huge Georgia Bulldog fan, an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting, and he spent his lifetime playing baseball with the Barrow County Recreation Department. Above all, David will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his love for family.
David is preceded in death by his loving parents, Herman Shedd and Vera Doster Shedd, and his very best friend Jimmie “Willis” Phillips. He is also preceded in death by his siblings: Jimmie Shedd, Nita Dodson, Randy Shedd, and Terry Shedd; his loving in-laws: Ralph and Geneva Phillips; and his sister-in-law, Dianne Phillips.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Gail Phillips Shedd, and their children: Holly (Ross) Jacks of Winder and Justin (Tonya) Shedd of Jefferson. He is also survived by his brothers, Billy (Flora) Shedd of Statham and Clifton “Cookie” Shedd of Winder; his beloved grandchildren: Josh (Abbie) Shedd, Caleb Adams, Lyndsee Adams, Nick Marks, Kinsley Hayes, Khloe Hayes, Greyson Shedd, and Kelsie (Ryan) Duncan; and his great-granddaughter, Emelyn Duncan. He is also survived by his fur baby, Tango.
A memorial service celebrating David’s life will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, August 31 at 5:00pm. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until service time.
David leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and lasting memories. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
