

Ernestine “Ernee” Hamrick Turner, 90, of Statham, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024. She was a proud native of Clay, West Virginia and a resident of Barrow County, GA since 1964. Ernee was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a talented homemaker who took pride in being a caretaker for many. She loved genealogy and was an author of four books, including the history of Clay, WV, a poet and a gardener. Ernee was a faithful Christian and a member of Eastside Baptist Church, where she had sung in the choir and taught Sunday school.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Stella Hughes Hamrick; her loving husband of 60 years, J. G. Turner; and twelve siblings. Ernee is survived by her daughters, Teri Jackson (Eddie) of Statham and Devre Brannon (Brad) of Afton, TN; four grandchildren, Jennifer Jackson and Neil Jackson, Patrick Brannon and Cayde Brannon-Honeycutt; and five great-grandchildren: Tripp Jackson, Brilann Lampp, Hayden Bowen, Kennedy Bowen and Hudson Bowen. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be held at 2PM Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Barrow Memorial Gardens -however, in case of inclement weather, in the chapel at Smith Funeral home.
