Evelyn was a saved Christian and attended Braswell Baptist Church in Good Hope, GA. She loved to cook and was known for her biscuits. Evelyn had a servant's heart and cared deeply for others. She spent her career as a CNA taking care of people.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Michael Etchison, Sr., her father David Mathis and mother Barbara Mathis, and her mother-in-law Carrie Etchison. She is also survived by her daughter Andrea (Jeremy) Almond, and son Michael Etchison, Jr.; brothers Dave Mathis, Ricky Mathis, and George Mathis, and sisters Gail Holbrook and Sue Criswell; as well as eleven grandchildren: Deiondre, Elijah, Ariah, Karson, Micah, Daylan, Anthany, Melanie, Lathan, Janiah, and Jayme. In addition, Evelyn is survived by a host of extended family and many who she loved and considered her own.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening, May 7, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service for Evelyn will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Smith Memory Chapel. The service will be officiated by Rev. Kenneth Epperson and Minister Rod Johnson.
