

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Plunkett retired from Local 85 as a sheet metal worker. Mr. Plunkett was the retired president and past national president of the local 85 sheet metal workers union of which he was a member for 50 years. He was lovingly known as Santa Poppy where he brought joy to many children during the holiday season. Mr. Plunkett was a member of Bethlehem First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Plunkett is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Conway Plunkett, Sr. and Marilyn Bartlett Plunkett, and son, Bill Lucas.
Mr. Plunkett is survived by his son, Tony (Doreen) Plunkett of Kennesaw, and step-son, Joey (Tracy) Ferro of Winder; daughters, Kim (Tony) Jeans of Powder Springs, Connie Plunkett (Scott) Thompson of Dallas; step-daughters, Audra (Greg) Davis of Winder, and Jennifer (Dee) Hanna of Winder; sisters, Joan Plunkett (Jimmy) Harris of Sharpsburg, GA, and Anita Plunkett (Guy) Sayles of Asheville, NC; 14 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. G. Conway Plunkett will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Bethlehem First United Methodist Church with Dr. Guy Sayles officiating. The family will be receiving friends following the service at the church.
The family has requested that in honor of Santa Poppy, please wear red to the memorial service.
