

Gary was the son of the late Melvin Renald Curlew and Madeleine Loper Curlew. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Reynold and Jay Curlew. Gary worked many years and traveled world-wide for Simon Container Machinery Ltd as an industrial engineer and retired as an IT supervisor with Delta Airlines. Gary loved his country and proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Gary was a published author, having written two books: one was fiction about love, sex, violence, and adventure, and the other was about UFOs. He was in the process of writing a sequel to the UFO book.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years; Jackie Watson Curlew of Winder; children: Scott (Teri) Curlew of Monroe, Billy Johnson of Cumming, Denise (Ricky) Rutledge of Stone Mountain, Dodi (Del) Getz of Buford, Theresa (Bryan) Hall of Atlanta; grandchildren: Maddie Curlew, Grant Curlew, Chase Rutledge, Crystal (David) Trainer, Cody (Katherine) Getz, and Trey Getz, Bailey Hall, Carter Hall, and Summer Hall; great-grandchildren: Ryan Trainer, Riley and Haley Rutledge, and Harper Getz.
A celebration of Gary's life, with military honors, will be held from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Friday, July 1, 2022 at the Statham American Legion Post 163, 1633 Atlanta Hwy SE, Statham, Georgia.
