Mr. Whitehead was a native of Athens, Georgia. He is the son of the late George William Whitehead and Mary Ophelia Landcaster Whitehead. Throughout Wayne's life, he was a self-employed carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church.
Mr. Whitehead is survived by his brother, Lloyd (Sheila) Whitehead of Oxford; sister, Mira Sellers of Bogart and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethabara Baptist Church, 4651 Monroe Hwy, Statham, GA 30666. Burial will follow the service. The family will be receiving friends on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
