

Hulan served in The US Army during WWII. He was in three major invasions in the Pacific Theater, Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea and Luzon, where he was awarded four Bronze Stars. Hulan retired from Lucent Technologies. He was a member of The Winder First Baptist Church. Hulan served his community as he did his country and was a member of various clubs including The Davidson Masonic Lodge, The American Legion and The VFW. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and he enjoyed fabricating. Hulan loved his family and was blessed enough to have a group of friends in Rabun County where he camped for 30 years that was like a second family to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Lamar and Dora Mae Smith Bailey; his wife of 68 years, Martha Sue Wall Bailey; a son, Phil Bailey and two brothers, Buck and Dean Bailey. Hulan is survived by a son, Danny Bailey (Jan) of Hoschton; a daughter, Sulan Maxey (Ricky) of Winder; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Bailey will be private, but there will be a public committal service held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Barrow Memorial Gardens with military honors. Donations may be made to The Disabled American Veterans at secure.dav.org/donate.
