

Irmgard (Irma) Burroughs, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on July 19, 2023. Beloved wife of Richard Alan Burroughs (Rick) of 70 years. A loving mother she will be forever missed by her only son Michael S. Burroughs and his fiancée Colleen A. Stellwagen of Lawrenceville, GA. Born on December 19, 1929 in Nurnberg, Germany she grew up during the Second World War. Rick was serving as an Army MP and playing baseball for the post team in Nurnberg, where they met, fell in love and later married. Irma was highly intelligent and learned English and other skills very quickly. Life as a military Army wife of 30 years and a homemaker brought multiple tours of duty, travel adventures, and life changing experiences. Residing with pride in Columbus, GA for over 30 years, her home and yard were maintained meticulously. Irma had a talent for all things green and loved planting flowers, gardening, and feeding her favorite hummingbirds with a special syrup she made every season for them. Irma was an excellent cook and enjoyed putting out memorable German style meals for family and friends. As a young woman Irma was an outstanding bowler and avid golfer. All will forever remember her disposition, love, strength, and can do attitude no matter her physical ailment. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars. A graveside service will be held at the GA National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA. on August 15, 2023 at 11:30am. Everyone who wishes to attend must arrive by 11am.
