James Roger Adams

Born on August 24, 1947, in Dacula, Georgia, Roger was the son of the late James Harvey Adams and Doris Blanche Adams. A proud graduate of Dacula High School and Georgia State University, he also honorably served in the National Guard Reserve. He had a distinguished career with Georgia Power, where he faithfully worked as an accountant for 44 years until his retirement.

On March 31, 1967, Roger married the love of his life, Linda Adams. Together they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, love, and family.

Roger was a man of Christian faith. Throughout the years, he served in various church leadership roles, including Sunday School teacher, deacon, and treasurer.

To know Roger was to know his unmistakable dry wit and legendary “Dad jokes.” His quiet strength, steady presence, and humble spirit made him someone his family and friends truly treasured.

If there was one place Roger felt most at home, it was on the golf course. An avid golfer throughout his adult life, he treasured countless rounds with friends and especially enjoyed playing and teaching his granddaughter Savannah, the love of the game. He was also a devoted sports fan who rarely missed the opportunity to cheer for his favorite college and professional teams. When he wasn’t watching sports or golfing, you could often find him with a good book in hand—especially one by his favorite author, Tom Clancy.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Linda Adams; his children, Jimmy Adams (Suzanne) and Kimberly Deeds (Chris); his grandchildren, Tiffany Adams Gittens (Weston) and Savannah Rainbolt (Carrie); his great-grandchildren, Joanna, Meredith, and Annie Gittens; and his brothers, Eddie Adams (Roxie) and Mike Adams (Elaine).

Roger leaves behind a legacy of faith, integrity, kindness, and unconditional love. His quiet strength and unwavering devotion to his family will never be forgotten.

As the legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus once said, “Achievement is largely the product of steadily raising one’s level of aspiration and expectation.” Roger lived that philosophy not through trophies or accolades, but through the life he built, the family he cherished, and the example he set for those who knew him.

Though his final round on earth has ended, we take comfort in knowing he has been welcomed into his eternal home. May we honor his memory by loving our families well, keeping our faith strong, sharing a laugh whenever we can, and remembering that the greatest victories in life are measured not by the scorecard, but by the lives we touch.

A memorial service for Roger will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Smith Funeral Home in Winder. Burial will occur immediately after the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
