No one worked harder than Jim – from his days as part owner and manager of Merit Poultry Farm, to his career at Harrison Poultry, Cargill, and Woodall Grain Company, through his years as devoted caretaker of the Russell Family Estate. He was always there to help a friend or cousin – no ask was too big and no consideration too small. His ways were often quiet, but he never lacked for a sardonic joke or an honest opinion. He was a voracious reader, and loved sharing his superior taste in music.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Russell Jr. and Betty Ann Campbell Russell and a brother, Charles Trapier “Trip” Russell. He is survived by his loving wife, Karey Holcomb Russell of Winder; his son, Rob Russell of Winder; his daughter, Kate Russell (Caleb Minor) of Decatur; sisters: Ann Russell Parker of Athens and Judy Russell Dodd (Kenny) of Townsend; a brother, Bob Russell (Jill) of Darien; nephews: Worth Parker (Katy) and Cap Russell (Mary); and a great-niece, AB Parker. He was a cousin to many, and a friend to more.
